Trip Advisor Recognition for Heage Windmill

Each year many people from all over the UK, and indeed the world, visit Heage windmill and are so impressed with the mill, it’s beautiful location and its knowledgeable guides, that they paste their praise on Trip Advisor. With more than 500 million reviews and opinions covering the world’s largest selection of travel listings worldwide Trip Advisor provides travellers with the views of visitors to help them decide where to stay, to fly, what to do and where to eat. It encourages travellers to report on places visited and to award them up 5* ratings on their findings.

In 2015 the windmill was delighted to first receive TripAdvisor’s ‘Certificate of Excellence’ which is based on the number of independent 4 or 5 star ratings awarded. This success was repeated again in 2016 and 2017 and we have just learnt that the mill has once again received this highly desired accolade for 2018 - four years in a row for an activity which is run and maintained entirely by a small team of dedicated volunteers is really some achievement!

Alan Eccleston, chairman of Heage Windmill Society said; ‘This Award has been received for four consecutive years and represents a huge tribute to the work and commitment of all our volunteers’

He added; ‘We just would like to get a few more people to come along and join our happy team.’

Details on becoming a volunteer at the windmill can be obtained from Lynn Allen 01773 715 177 or email

The windmill will be open during 2018 (11am to 4pm) every weekend from until the end of October. Large, free, car park!

Admission Charges for 2018
Adults £4.00, Concessions (including Gold Cards) £3.50, Children (5-16) £2.00 (parents can buy one and get one free for children in the same age group) Children under 5 are free.
