Remi Harris – Light & Shade (Jazz, Blues & Rock)

7th March 2020
(Doors & bar open at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 start )

We are delighted to welcome Remi Harris and his band to Crich again with their most diverse show, “Light & Shade”. It features Remi on a variety of acoustic guitars, electric guitars and a ukulele; accompanied by double bass, electric bass, drums and percussion. In this new show, Remi will be playing an eclectic mix of Jazz, Blues & Rock, improvisations, original compositions and new arrangements of his favourite tunes. His shows are interspersed with his commentary about the history of the music and instruments he’s playing.

He has performed at Buckingham Palace, Montreal Jazz Festival, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum, on BBC 4 Television and live on BBC Radio 2 & 3.

Remi was named after the 2nd and 3rd notes of the major scale (Do “Re Mi” Fa So La Ti Do), or was it maybe a well-known brand of cognac? He started playing guitar at the age of 7 and is primarily self-taught, learning from guitar magazines, videos and recordings. He was initially inspired by rock and blues guitarists of the 60s and 70s such as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Peter Green. He played his first gig aged 11 and, in his late teens, he developed an interest in jazz music, in particular in artists such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz. Since then he has been building a reputation for blending all these influences into his own individual style of playing.
Remi’s previous gigs in Crich sold out well in advance, so book soon to avoid disappointment!
