Biog for Alan Parkes

I was born in Kirk Hallam Ilkeston, went to gladstone School Ilkeston, Robert Lynsey was 3 years ahead of me
After leaving school i worked (would you believe as a Chef) for Stanton & Staverley and i began to D.J at various venues around Nottingham about 4 nights a week arriving into work very late and very tired the next morning.
I decided (with a little help from my boss)to leave my day time job and become a full-time D.J in 1982 i was offered the position as General Manager of Crockers Night Club in Ilkeston.
In 1985 i left Crockers and went out on the road to various clubs/bars from Leeds in the north to Bedford in the south, in 1998 i opened Big Als Records on South st Ilkeston and in 1992 Big Als Records in Beeston, In 2002 after almost 14 great years, I decided to close the doors for the last time continuing to Jocking until about 5 years ago.If you want to see a list of my venues from the past 30 years and even more about me log on to my face book pages just type in BIG AL in the search Box
