Blast From The Past By Spiltmilk Dance

28th January 2017
(Doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start)

Spiltmilk Dance take us on an amusing and light-hearted journey through the music, cult TV programmes, fads and fashions that have shaped British popular culture over the last 60+ years.

The work takes the form of a short dance for each year since the recorded music charts began in 1952. Each dance is inspired by a key event or trend that impacted on life in British living rooms that year, and will be accompanied by the top selling song from the year. The dances are set to be fun, accessible and a little bit silly, speaking to audiences not usually familiar with contemporary dance. There will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation (but no dancing unless you really want to!) with familiar rounds based on the popular gameshows of the time.

Remember 1978 for example, the year of Dallas, Watership Down, platform shoes, curly perms (Kevin Keegan) and The Incredible Hulk. Can you remember what was the top selling single in the UK? (Boney M - Rivers of Babylon/Brown Girl in the Ring). Inflation fell to a 6 year low (8.3%). May Day became a bank holiday for the first time.

So, dust down your memories as you prepare to shock and embarrass your children/grandchildren/parents/grandparents with what you did, how you danced, and what you wore in times past!

This is a great show to bring several generations together, in an evening of laughs and joy!
