Leawood Pumphouse In Steam And Birdswood Canal Boat
4th June 2016 to 5th June 2016 (11am to 5pm)
Working steam powered Beam Engine built in 1849 on the Cromford Canal. Watch the engine, powered by a coal fired boiler, as it pumps 800 gallons of water per stroke from the River Derwent into the canal. Use pay and display car park off Mill Lane, Lea Bridge, DE4 5AA, or walk down the canal towpath from Cromford Wharf, or arrive in style on horse-drawn canal boat Birdswood. Opening times for Leawood Pumphouse, 12 noon to 5pm. Free admission (donations welcome). The Friends of Cromford Canal will be offering one-way or return horse-drawn trips on the historic narrowboat, Birdswood, between Cromford Wharf and High Peak Junction/Leawood Pumphouse. The trips take approximately 45 minutes each way and must be pre-booked on 07552 055455. Departure times: 11am from Cromford Wharf 12.15pm from High Peak Junction Wharf Shed 2pm from Cromford Wharf 3.15pm from High Peak Junction Wharf Shed
