Derbyshire gets golfing
More than 2,200 people have taken the opportunity to ‘Get into golf’ in Derbyshire; thanks to a partnership which has brought together county organisations, clubs and PGA professionals.
Figures for the past five months show the success of a wide range of Get into golf projects run under the umbrella of the Derbyshire County Golf Partnership and now plans are in place to open up the sport to even greater numbers over the next year.
More than 70,000 flyers promoting the campaign have been distributed across the county with clubs rallying round to make it even easier for would-be golfers to give the sport a try.
Nigel Furniss, County Development Officer for the Derbyshire County Golf Partnership, said: “By bringing together the various strands of the golfing community, we have been able to make a real difference to the number of people being introduced to the sport.
“In the long-term that work can only be of benefit to the clubs across Derbyshire, who already benefit from our support in attracting and retaining regular participants.
Get into golf opportunities include free or low-cost beginner courses with PGA professionals. They are a fun and sociable way to start golf – and a great way to make new friends.
